 Founder & Chairman, YVB

Barrister Tareque Akbar Khondakar is a distinguished entrepreneur, legal professional and youth leader, currently serving as the Founder & Chairman of Youth Voice of Bangladesh (YVB)—a national youth development organization committed to promoting youth leadership, civic awareness and social responsibility. He is also the Managing Director of Regent Group and Chairman of Regent Design & Development Ltd., with primary business interest in the real estate sector.

Barrister Tareque’s academic journey has been marked by consistent excellence. He completed his LLB (BA Hons) and LLM in Corporate & Commercial Law (First Class/Distinction) from Queen Mary, University of London, one of the UK’s leading top 5 law schools. He later pursued the Bar Professional Training Course (BPTC) at the University of Law, UK, and was called to the Bar of England and Wales as a proud member of The Honourable Society of Lincoln’s Inn.

His academic brilliance was recognized nationally when he received the prestigious ‘Daily Star Award’ for achieving the highest marks in Biology, Chemistry, and Mathematics in Bangladesh in the Edexcel GCE O Level and A Level examinations.

Upon returning to Bangladesh in 2013, he began his legal career at Syed Ishtiaq Ahmed & Associates, one of the country’s most respected law firms, where he specialized in corporate and commercial law.

Inspired by a deep passion for youth development, Barrister Tareque founded Youth Voice of Bangladesh (YVB) in 2013. Under his leadership, YVB has organized more than 250 large-scale youth programs including leadership trainings, career development workshops, and humanitarian initiatives, impacting over 20,000 young people across Bangladesh.

Some of his most notable contributions include organizing landmark corporate leadership events:

1. Corpo‑Route Key-1 in Chattogram—the first of its kind in the port city—gathered over 550 university students, setting new benchmarks in youth-industry collaboration.

2. Corpo‑Route Key-2 in Dhaka—attended by 1,200+ students—brought together top corporate leaders and promising youth, generating nationwide attention.

3. He also spearheaded the YVB International Youth Summit in Chattogram, held at the LGED Auditorium, which brought together 500+ national and international students from 20+ educational institutions across Sri Lanka, Nepal, Maldives, India, Kashmir, Pakistan, and Afghanistan. The summit promoted global leadership, intercultural understanding, and youth solidarity, underscoring YVB’s international vision.

In a recent exclusive interview with Dainik Purbodesh (22 June 2025), Barrister Tareque shared his bold vision for youth empowerment, education and civic responsibility. He stressed that youth should not merely seek employment, but should aim to solve real societal problems.
He also emphasized the importance of youth participation in democratic processes, ethical leadership, and community service, advocating for a mindset shift toward collective success and instilling a culture of giving among the younger generation.

Coming from a family deeply rooted in public service, Barrister Tareque draws strength from his father—a former Ambassador, Member of Parliament, and Advisor to BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia. Upholding this legacy, he leads with principled leadership and a forward-thinking vision for national progress.
