UK Reunion of Former YVB Members: Discussion on Youth Voting Rights & the Upcoming National Election

On December 14, 2025, a reunion of UK-based former members of Youth Voice of Bangladesh (YVB) was held at a restaurant in London. The event was attended by local leaders of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), representatives of youth organizations, journalists from various print and electronic media outlets, as well as volunteers from different wings of the party, including Jubo Dal, Chhatra Dal, and Mahila Dal.

The primary objectives of the reunion were to reconnect former UK-based members of YVB and to hold discussions on the return of Tarique Rahman, Acting Chairman of the BNP, to Bangladesh after 17 years, alongside an exchange of views on the country’s current political landscape.

Addressing the gathering, Barrister Tareque Akbar Khondakar, Chairman of Youth Voice of Bangladesh and a member of the Chattogram District Law and Order Committee, expressed deep concern over the misuse of artificial intelligence (AI) in spreading misinformation and false propaganda through digital platforms. He noted that for an extended period, many citizens have been deprived of their voting rights, while vested interest groups are deliberately attempting to mislead the youth through deceptive online narratives.

He further urged participants not to react impulsively to content circulating on social media, emphasizing the importance of verifying whether information is AI-generated or based on credible and authentic sources. Calling for collective vigilance, he encouraged everyone—especially young people—to remain alert, informed, and cautious against such malicious digital activities in the lead-up to the upcoming national election.
