Preparation Meeting for the Round Table Discussion on: “Youth, Upcoming Election & Digital Challenges” Organised by Youth Voice of Bangladesh (YVB), Chattogram City Working Committee
A preparatory meeting for a round table discussion titled “Youth, Upcoming Election & Digital Challenges” was held on Tuesday, January 27, 2026, at the Beverly Hill residence of the Chairman on Chatteshwary Road, Chattogram. The meeting was attended by members of Youth Voice of Bangladesh (YVB) Chattogram City Working Committee.
During the meeting, the core ideas, objectives, and key discussion points of the upcoming round table were clearly outlined by Barrister Tareque Akbar Khondakar, Chairman of YVB. Addressing the youth participants, he stated, “The future election is not limited to the ballot box; the digital space, the truth of information, and responsible behavior are now integral parts of the electoral process.”
The discussion particularly focused on the role and responsibilities of young voters, the risks posed by artificial intelligence, deepfakes, and fake content, and the impact of rumors and propaganda on social media platforms—especially Facebook. Emphasis was also placed on the importance of law, responsible journalism, ethical conduct, and the urgent need to enhance digital awareness and information verification skills among young people.
The preparatory meeting concluded with the consensus that an informed, conscious, and organized youth generation can provide effective leadership in addressing the challenges of future elections in the digital era. It reaffirmed the belief that the upcoming election will not only be contested at the ballot box, but also within the digital space—and in that space, youth must stand for truth, responsibility, and integrity.
Among those present at the meeting were Mohammad Ashiqur Rahman, Coordinator of YVB Chattogram City Working Committee; Arefin Billah, Deputy Coordinator; along with other committee members.
