Reunion of Former Members of Youth Voice of Bangladesh and Discussion on Youth Voting Rights at United Kingdom
On December 14, 2025, a reunion of former members of Youth Voice of Bangladesh (YVB) based in the United Kingdom was held at a restaurant in the UK. The event was attended by local BNP leaders, youth organizations, journalists from various print and electronic media, as well as volunteers from the party’s different wings, including Jubo Dal, Chhatra Dal, and Mahila Dal.
The main objectives of the event were twofold: to reunite former members of YVB in the UK and to discuss the return of Mr. Tarique Rahman, the acting chairman of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), to Bangladesh after 17 years, and to engage in a discussion on the current political scenario of the country.
In his speech, Mr. Golam Akbar Khondkar, a former Member of Parliament, former ambassador, and a member of the BNP Chairperson’s Advisory Council, stated that after the 2024 people’s uprising and the political change on August 5, Bangladesh has been facing a state of political uncertainty. He strongly believed that Mr. Tarique Rahman is the only capable, acceptable, and responsible leader who can lead the country out of this crisis, bringing peace, order, and political stability.
During the event, Barrister Tareque Akbar Khondkar, Chairman of Youth Voice of Bangladesh and member of the Chattogram District Law and Order Committee, spoke about the misuse of artificial intelligence (AI) in spreading misinformation and false propaganda online. He highlighted the reality that many people have been deprived of their voting rights for a long time, and a group with selfish interests is attempting to mislead the youth.
He further advised the audience not to react impulsively to content on social media but to verify and understand whether the information is AI-generated or real and credible. He urged everyone, including the youth, to stay alert, conscious, and cautious against such malicious activities.
